weLL first of aLL xyz monsters has materiaLs that needs to be removed to activate its effect whiLe synchro is Like an effect monster that you can use it without any cost (except if you have to discard or anything)

An Xyz's effect USUALLY requires an Xyz material attatched to the card to be detached, sending it to the graveyard. A Synchro monster's effect can be used repetitively throughout the Duel (or not depending on the various effects). idk how to answer the second part
